The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) says it is “mortified” by “shocking revelations concerning institutional corruption that is swallowing the nation” and has therefore decided to embark on an “Anti Corruption Demonstration” in the first week of August

Below is a copy of the request letter sent to the Police by the leadership of the PPP for protection on the said date.

The Director of Operations

Ghana Police Service

Police Headquarters

Dear Sir,

In the wake of recent shocking revelations concerning institutional corruption that is swallowing the nation, the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has planned to lead party members, and interested members of the public who are also mortified by these revelations, in a massive demonstration in Accra to express our disgust against corruption.

We intend to embark upon this demonstration in the first week of August 2013 in the forenoon along the Kwame Nkrumah Avenue; from the Circle through Kantamanto and converge at the Old Polo Grounds.

We would therefore be grateful for the Ghana Police Service to offer protection, confirm the appropriate route for the demonstration, and advice on a most convenient date for the Police Service.

Please accept the assurances of our highest cooperation as we patiently and eagerly await your timely response.

Yours faithfully,

Nii Allotey Brew-Hammond

National Chairman
