Fire Prevented At Winneba Central Market

The timely arrival of fire personnel from the Winneba Fire Service Station, prevented fire outbreak at the Winneba Central Market, on Thursday.

The Assistant Station Officer of the Winneba Fire Station, Mr Brutus Alexandra Storph, made this known to the Ghana News Agency at Winneba on Friday.

According to him the Fire Service station received a call from an unknown person reporting of a fire outbreak at the market at about 1915 hours on Thursday and the service responded promptly.

Mr Storph said when the personnel rushed to the market they discovered that a forty-footer container being used as a Cold store for fish and meat was on fire.

He said the fire personnel spent one hour to bring the fire under control, adding that they are investigating the cause of the fire.

Some eyewitnesses at the market and within the immediate surrounding told the GNA that there was light off and when the light came back, they saw the container in flames.
