Danish top-flight side SønderjyskE have decided not to sign Kotoko winger Richard Mpong after having trials with the club, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.
But the Denmark club claim they could sign the Ghanaian later but have decided not to sign him for now.
Mpong has been sent home after the club decided not to offer him a contract even though they claim he impressed.
The 23-year-old spent ten days on trials with the club hoping to seal a permanent deal.
Sonderjyske were looking for a replacement for Lasse Vibe who has been sold to Swedish side IFK Goteborg.
However they have decided not to offer him a contract having done quite well during his stay in Haderslev, but it has not been enough to secure him a contract.
“Right now we will not do anything with him (Mpong),” says SønderjyskE sports director Ole Nielsen.
“We have seen him play lead and we will see if something will come at a later date.
“Right now we will not do anything more with him.”
The diminutive player can boost of speed and sultry skills on the right wing.
Mpong scored on his international debut in February 2012 in Ghana’s 1-1 international friendly draw with Chile.
