What Killed Prez Mills?

Sam Pyne, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on the Mahama administration to inform Ghanaians about circumstances that led to the untimely death of former President John Atta Mills, as the anniversary of the death of the ex-leader draws nearer.

He asked the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to also inform Ghanaians about the exact amount used by the state to organize a befitting funeral for the late president about 12 months ago.

Speaking on Hello FM, Mr. Pyne said it was unacceptable for government to remain silent on the death of the former president.

The NPP scribe observed that taxes collected from the citizenry by government was used to finance the funeral of the late president.

Mr. Pyne noted that the seeming silence by government on the two aforementioned key national issues was fuelling speculation, stressing that “we need answers now.”

If the government believes that it doesn’t have anything to hide with regards to the death of the late leader and the amount used for his funeral, then it should provide some answers to the populace now, he said.

Touching on other crucial national issues, Mr. Pyne chastised the President Mahama-led government for continuously increasing the prices of petroleum products without considering the plight of the ordinary Ghanaian.

He said when the NDC came to power in 2009 a gallon of petrol was sold at GH¢3.70 but after five years in office a gallon of petrol is being sold at over GH¢10.

The NPP official insisted that the Mahama administration doesn’t care about Ghanaians.

Mr. Pyne said the sharp increase in the price of LPG was a major concern to the populace, insisting that the government’s harsh economic policies were adversely affecting the citizenry.

He charged the NDC government to quickly reduce the prices of petroleum products to lessen the suffering of the masses.
