Kennedy Agyapong (Kenpong) linked with Kotoko top job

Familiar but influential faces have been linked with the vacant Asante Kotoko Chief Executive position.

The top job has become vacant following the shocking resignation of Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong on Monday.

The former boss of the Tema Oil Refinery threw in the towel after being subjected to severe verbal abuse and constantly been accused of financial misappropriation.

A number of names have popped up as potential replacement but former big wigs like Sylvester Asare-Owusu, Kennedy Agyapong (Kenpong) and current board member Alhaji Abu Lamine are believed to be the front runners.

The Chief Executive of Champion Divine Clinic, Dr Kwaku Frimpong is also rumoured to be interested in the sought-after job.

The four persons, who have been linked with the job, have made significant contributions to the club over the years.

Asare Owusu is a former chairman of the club, while business mogul Kennedy Agyapong’s financial contribution to the club could best be described as unrivaled.

Current board member Alhaji Abu Lamine also contributed substantially to the success of the team during the three-year tenure of Dr Sarpong.

Even though Manhyia is yet to officially respond to Dr Sarpong’s resignation,  names of such influential persons will continue to dominate the headlines in the West African country.
