Picture: Takyi BoatengThe Old Tafo Akyem branch of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has honoured Mr J. B. Danquah-Adu, MP for Akim Abuakwa North for his immense contribution to the church.
Mr Danquah-Adu, who spent GH¢40,000 to fix tiles on the floor of the chapel in addition to other features to beautify it, was presented with parcels, including a Kente cloth and a certificate.
According to the Old Tafo Akyem District Minister of the church, Rev. Sam Asiama Koranteng, the church was overwhelmed with the MP’s assistance, which he said had given a face lift to the edifice.
Rev. Koranteng was grateful to Mr Danquah-Adu for his generosity. According to him, Mr Adu did not assist only the PCG, but he assisted the society in general in terms of social amenities.
In response, the MP was of the view that the society needed to be uplifted and that was why he decided to always share what he had with the people in his constituency, irrespective of political affiliation, adding that the church comprised people with divergent political views, all of whom must be supported.
The Tafohene, Osabarima Edusei Peasah, who at the weekend led his people to celebrate the Ohumkan Festival and was among the congregation, called on the people to help develop the area irrespective of their political affiliation.
Parents, he said, must also help to mould the character of their children to grow up as responsible adults.
He expressed his appreciation to the people and thanked them for their support during the festival.
Mr Danquah Adu, later in the day, provided food and drinks to about 400 vulnerable people made up of widows and orphans at Old Tafo and called on others with means to help assist the needy.
Earlier in the day, the MP presented GH¢4,000 to the Maranata Assembly of the Church of Pentecost at Osiem.
The presentation was in fulfilment of a pledge he made to the congregation for the ceiling of the chapel.
The Presiding Elder of the assembly, Mr Emmanuel Apeaning, who received the money on behalf of the church, urged Christians to guard against statements that would have devastating effects on society.
