Akwa Ibom: Clamour For Power Shift, Not For Personal Interest—Uwem Ita Etuk

Former Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uwem Ita Etuk, has refuted claims that he was interested in becoming deputy governor in 2015.Etuk was responding to allegations that he was supporting the emergence of a governor from Eket Senatorial District because of his own ambition.Addressing journalists in Nung Udoe Ibesikpo Local Government Area of the state, the former PDP chairman described those peddling the rumour as failed politicians.He said: ‘The people have not addressed the issues I raised on equity, justice and fair play on power to rotate to Eket Senatorial District rather they embarked on campaign of calumny. We have to rid our society of paid political contractors. I know most people indulge in this because it puts meal on their table.’Most of them are failed politicians especially the one I included as a caucus chairman, I don’t have any deputy governorship ambition and I am advising the people of Eket Senatorial District to bury their differences and present a common front in pursuit of the 2015 gubernatorial ticket.’On the allegation that he sold gubernatorial forms to candidates from the other senatorial districts, Etuk said the 2011 gubernatorial forms were sold in Abuja while aspirants’ clearance was done in Port Harcourt.Comments:Leave a comment…
