Greuther Furth coach Frank Kramer is unhappy with Ghana’s progress at the U20 World Cup as it delays the return of defender Baba Abdul Rahman.

The 18-year-old is in danger of entirely missing out on Furth’s pre-season tour of Austria as the Black Stars progress in the tournament being staged in Turkey.

The Cloverleaves are unlikely to have the left-back back in time and ready enough when they kick off their campaign in German second tier against Aalen if Ghana makes it all the way to the finals of the U20 World Cup.

The situation doesn’t sit too well with Kramer who fears his ever-improving defender will be burnt out by the time he returns from the national team.

“For Baba, that’s (progression at the World Cup) great,” says Kramer.

“For us, this is of course not ideal.

“Now he is at full power. The question is: What happens when the tournament is over?

“Does he then falls into a hole or he comes back full of energy?”

Rahaman is one of the key players of coach Sellas Tetteh’s side at the World Cup.

He played almost every game for Greuther Furth last season after which he immediately joined the Black Stars for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Sudan and Lesotho.

He traveled to join the Ghana U20 team for the World Cup after the qualifiers – meaning he has had virtually no rest for over a year now.
