Ghana coach Sellas Tetteh has praised one of his key players Kennedy Ashia ahead of Sunday’s FIFA U20 World Cup quarter-final clash.

The 19-year-old, who thrives as a second striker, has been one of Ghana’s key performers at the tournament.

Ashia’s thunderbolt opened the scoring in Ghana’s nerve-wracking 3-2 win over Portugal last Wednesday in their Round of 16 clash.

Tetteh, who is technical director at Ashia’s club Liberty Professionals, knows why he picked him in his final 21-man squad.

“Kennedy is not the kind of player who will go on spectacular runs, but he can be deadly around the opposition penalty box,” Tetteh told FIFA.com.

“He’s a strong-willed character and can surprise you at any time. That’s why I see him as one of the players who can decide a game.”

Ghana finished fourth place in 1997, sandwiched between two lost finals (in 1993 and 2001).

The Black Satellites won the competition in 2009, beating Brazil on penalties in Cairo—becoming the first African nation to claim the title.
