Asokore- Mampong Assembly gets MCE

A 36-year-old product of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), a nominee of the President, has been confirmed  the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokore-Mampong.

Alhaji Nuru Hamidan, who is the deputy National Co-ordinator of Ghana Youth Employment Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA), was confirmed by 14 out of the 15 assembly members present and voting to  become the MCE in an exercise supervised by the deputy Ashanti Regional Electoral officer, Mr Lawrence Sarpong.

The chiefs at Asokore Mampong, some tribal chiefs from the Northern Region, as well as other chiefs and elders and their subjects from some  neighbouring countries resident in Kumasi were present.

THE Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Eric Opoku, commended the assembly members for voting overwhelmingly for the President’s nominee, describing the move “as a justification that the assembly was united and was ever prepared to deliver.”

He, therefore, urged them to continue to sustain such spirit to enhance the speedy development of the area.
