The ‘goddess’ of Ghana’s mid morning radio, Doreen Andoh is looking ahead to pursuing a career in TV, fashion after 18 incredible years on radio.

The host of the multiple award winning Cosmopolitan Show on Joy 99.7 FM disclosed this to Myjoyonline.com on the occasion of her 18th ‘birthday’ on Joy FM.

Small, unassuming, with a dream of becoming a Pharmacist, Doreen Andoh lost her way into radio, some 18 years ago and has never found her way back to medicine.

Radio was never part of her plans but a strike by the lecturers of the University forced her to try her hands, mind and voice on radio to while away time. Today, she is the reference point of mid-morning radio and an icon to many.

“Moving forward I have so many interests, sometimes it is very difficult for me to put a finger on what I really want to do. But I know what I want to do.

“It has absolutely nothing to do with music. I can’t sing. I have a speaking voice but I don’t have a singing voice.

“I discovered in all these 18 years that I could create staff. I am in the process of creating my own TV show. I have others that I am still creating. As and when we can pick up some money I will put it out there.

“I do love fashion too and one of these fine days, look out for my fashion label,” she said.

Her illustrious career has seen her through a difficult male dominated terrain, characterized with some level of stereotyping, but in all, she has made each day count and each day better than the day before it.

In these 18 years she has entertained dozen, inspired millions and discovered herself in many ways unimaginable.

“I get the feeling that people appreciate what I do and that is the most inspiring thing to me,” she said adding, “I like the learning experience part of it.”

Her first pay at Joy FM was 3 pesewas but now it is…hmm she would not say.

Doreen Andoh is also looking ahead to creating a reading farm for kids between the ages of five and 15 to help the younger generation to cultivate the habit of reading.
