Kennedy Agyapong: Current Attorney General Must Be Compelled To Resign

Outspoken Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong says the current Attorney General must be compelled to resign with immediate effect for dabbling in the controversial judgment debt saga.

Hon. Kennedy Agyapong demanded government to oust Mrs. Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, claiming that she has defiled her office and soiled her hands with the judgment debt.

To him, if the Attorney General remains in her post; he would guarantee the nation that Waterville Holdings Ltd together with businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome will never refund the monies to the State.

He reiterated that the Attorney General seemingly connived with the Counsel for the President John Mahama in the ongoing election trial at the Supreme Court, Tony Lithur, to defend the two parties and following the court ruling last Friday, Mrs. Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong cannot absolve herself from the scandal.

He wondered if her appointment was because she also joined in the cabal to defraud the nation by doling out 51 million cedis to the judgment debt claimants.

“Someone who has benefited from Woyome and Waterville, how do you tell her to retrieve the money from Waterville and the others? It means she must supplement it with hers because she took from Woyome and Waterville.

“The current Attorney General also has to resign based on the indictment or the judgment of the Supreme Court…The current Attorney General and Tony Lithur’s chambers defended them…She has compromised herself and therefore the Attorney General immediately should also resign before they set up a Commission to go and collect the money for us.”

He also took a swipe at Lawyer Tony Lithur, during an interview with Okay FM, describing him as “disgrace” to the bar and calling for his sanction.

“He is a disgrace to the bar based on the judgment that he should not even to enter because he’s been referred to General Legal Council.” he said.
