Nana Akomea Exposes Wereko-Brobbey

Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea, has questioned why Former Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority (VRA) and one-time presidential hopeful, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobbey, filed a suit at the law courts accusing the NPP of rigging when he lost the race to become National Chairman a few years ago, despite having agents monitoring the elections.

According to him, Dr. Wereko Brobbey must be referred to some of his methodologies towards elections held within the party for slamming the NPP of challenging the legitimacy of the declaration of John Dramani Mahama as President at the Supreme Court.

“He, Wereko Brobbey, who is talking about election management, how has he managed elections in the previous years? In 1999 when he formed his own party (United Ghana Movement), out of eight parties, his party was last. If you are looking for equity, we must see your hands. He (Tarzan) who is complaining has loads of errors in election management in his own party

“…in 2010, he (Dr. Wereko Brobbey) came again to contest for NPP chairmanship, he wasn’t even second. Afterwards he threatened to sue the party in court because he claimed the chairmanship election was rigged. He even filed the case in court which I have a copy of the writ. Out of over 4,000 members who voted, he only got 20 votes. With that he thinks he was robbed. Where were his agents by then? He went to court to seek clarification so why is he complaining now (if the NPP is also in court)?” he asked.

The former VRA Chief Executive openly rebuked the petitioners in the ongoing Presidential Election Petition for using a clueless witness to prosecute their case as well having no case to defend in court, since they did not organized well prior to the 2012 elections.

Dr. Charles Wereko Brobbey, in a statement he issued, said the failure by the NPP to fall on a witness who is versed with the intricacies of the election procedures may well be a decision to rue when final judgment is given by the judges.

He described Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Principal Witness for the petitioners as a “clueless witness” who clutched on to mere “assertions, superstitions, personal interpretations of law” whereas the witness on the other side, Asiedu Nketia was “masterful” in his act.

But speaking to an Accra-based Adom FM, Nana Akomea said Dr Brobbey had agents policing the elections yet he cried foul. To him, the party’s decision to suspend him (Dr. Wereko Brobbey) is a fair one since he breached the party’s constitution.
