Single Parent Fathers Urged To Tell Success Stories

Reverend James Noble Tulasi, Head Pastor of Jubilee Christian Centre, Ho, has urged single-parent fathers to tell their success stories for society to appreciate the role of men in parenting.

He noted that though a lot of men were responsible parents, they played those roles in silence and left unappreciated.

Rev. Tulasi, who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Ho last Friday ahead of Fathers Day, which falls today Sunday June 16, said there were irresponsible men just as there were irresponsible women and described as unfortunate how some people stereotyped men as irresponsible.

Rev. Tulasi, therefore, urged women to appreciate and celebrate their husbands, brothers, fathers and friends.

He said that way those men would be encouraged to be more responsible.

Rev. Tulasi also urged the media to give equal attention and publicity to the celebration of fathers’ day just as they did for mothers’ day so society could appreciate “men as seed givers and head of the family and society.”

Mr Emmanuel Kwesi Akuamoah, a single father, told the GNA that it was “fun” taking care of his three children single-handedly.

He said since his wife left her matrimonial home three years ago, he had been waking up earlier than usual to prepare the children for school and come back from work early to “prepare home” for them.

“Though it is challenging, I get some inner satisfaction doing what their mother should do for them,” Mr Akuamoah said.

His eldest daughter, Bernice Akuamoah, 15, described him (father) as caring, loving and a disciplinarian.

“Our father is our mother. He cooks for us, wash our clothes sometimes and he is always there for us,” she said.
