Nephew Killer Shot Dead

EBENEZER NAA, the 31-year-old man who butchered and killed his two nephews in a forest near Fomsu Kitewa in the Adansi North District, was killed by an instant-justice brigade when he returned to the Atuam village of his grandfather, Kofi Naa.

He was beaten and later shot dead in the head on Saturday night after the suspected killer razed down two muddy houses of his family with fire.

His body has been deposited at the morgue of New Edubiase Government Hospital, pending investigation by the police.

DSP Daniel Anane Amoah, Fomena District Police Commander, who confirmed the death of Ebenezer to Daily Guide, said the police, acting on tip-off, went to Atuam village and found the lifeless body of the suspected killer on Sunday morning.

According to the police chief, Ebenezer hacked to death two of his nephews, Daniel Tetteh, 33, and his younger brother, David Tetteh, 31, on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in a forest near Fumso Kitewa in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region.

He explained that the tragic incident happened after the two victims intervened in a misunderstanding between the suspect Ebenezer Naa and their great grandfather, Kofi Naa.

DSP Amoah stated that the suspect had first charged on Opanin Kofi Naa at his cottage for preventing him (Ebenezer) from selling dried cocoa beans, amidst threats of death.

The police commander narrated that the old man, sensing danger, ran away from the cottage to Atuam, a nearby village where he informed the two victims and another grandson of his, by name Abraham Naa, to go and counsel suspect Ebenezer Naa.

The police chief told Daily Guide that the suspect would not budge despite pleas from the three, and in the process became more infuriated when he was prevailed upon to put a stop to his unruly behaviour.

DSP Amoah said the suspect then chased his nephews with a machete he had pulled from the cottage and hacked Daniel and David on the head, hand and other parts of their body, while Abraham escaped.

He noted that the two bodies were found a day after the fatal attack.

According to the police commander, Ebenezer fled into the bush after his callous action and went into hiding.

DSP Amoah disclosed that the bodies of the victims were taken to the New Edubiase Government Hospital morgue.
