Ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah wants the Black Stars to cut short any form of jubilation and focused on the penultimate World Cup qualifier against Lesotho this weekend.

The Ghanaian recorded an important 3-1 win over Sudan in Omdurman last weekend to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Despite trailing leaders Zambia by a point, there is huge sense of optimism among Ghanaian soccer fans ahead the final two games.

But the Juventus legend, who guided the Black Stars to two successive World Cups, is urging caution and focus ahead of the game in Maseru.

“We still have to put our feet on the ground,we don’t have to fly high,we are on track and I think that the Black Stars can qualify to the World Cup but still there is a long way to go and I think we have to be careful,” Appiah said

“I am happy at how we played against Sudan, at a point we were down with one man but we still won the game.

“Playing against teams which are not known are always difficult but I like the spirit the guys showed in Sudan and i think that same same seriousness must be attached to the sides build up to Sundays game.”

The West African powerhouse must negotiate the tie against Likuena at the Setsoto National Stadium to at least maintain their second position ahead of the final decider against the Chipolopolo.
