Kumasi radio station KFM burnt by fire

A three-storey building at the Central Market area in Kumasi, which also houses KFM 103.7 FM, a Kumasi-based radio station was partially burnt Tuesday afternoon destroying property worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

Also located in the building are offices of the Barclays Bank, JAKWAPO Music, Standard Trust, Sinapi Aba, a number of cold store outlets and some other offices and shops.

The timely intervention of personnel from Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), saved all the shops at the ground floor of the building

No casualties have been reported.

It took personnel of the GNFS a hectic time with three fire tenders to bring the situation under control.

The production room, studio as well as six other offices of the radio station got burnt.

A number of electrical gadgets were burnt.

An Administrator at the station who only gave his name as Hayford said the fire started at about 12:30pm.

This is the third building fire incident in the Kumasi metropolis in less than a week.

Last Sunday a building at Dichemso near the Diamond Hotel was burnt destroying cash of GH¢3, 000 and killing seven security dogs.

On Thursday April 25, 2013 another fire outbreak destroyed a storey building which housed the offices of Antrak Air, Ashanti Pharmacy and a number of shops at Adum in Kumasi.
