Yahaya Mohammed scored a first half double to help Amidaus Professionals edge Aduana Stars 2-1 for the MTN FA Cup semi-final ticket available on Saturday.

The 24-year-old hit the back of the net twice before Emmanuel Allan replied for the visitors from Dormaa Ahenkro.

Amidaus’ record in the Ghanaian Premier League has been one of inconsistency – they had been riding on a three game winless run until the mid-week victory over leaders Medeama in Tema.

Yahaya, the double scorer, missed the tie due to suspension and returned to action.

The former OG Nice man seemed a bit more hungrier for the goals after seeing his goal-king chart leadership claimed by Mahatma Otoo.

Aduana, 6th in the Premier League, were lucky to escape a heavy defeat as Mohammed missed a handful of golden opportunities in the second department.

Mohammed carved the opener for Amidaus capitalising on some ponderous play by the visitors defenders midway through the first half but the ‘Fire Club’ were level moments later as Emmanuel Allan scored a brilliant finish.

But Mohammed clinched his double with an excellent strike and could have added two more after the break if had been clinical.

After going down 2-1 in the opening 45 minutes, Kwabena Ameyaw – Aduana coach, who masterminded the elimination of Tema Youth at the same venue, thought he could pull a quick one on Anthony Lokko but things did not materialise.

Bernard Don Bortey was brought on but the former Hearts of Oak man failed to produce any of his sorceries as he together with danger-man Godfred Saka, were held under close surveillance by the host defence.

Amidaus become the first club to qualify for the semis and are awaiting their next opponents as Kotoko and Eleven Wise face off in Kumasi while Hearts of Oak will host Gold Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Medeama take on Lions in Tarkwa.
