This year’s May Day to be celebrated in Western Region

Mr Kofi Asamoah, Secretary General of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Friday said the 2013 May Day celebration will be celebrated with a National Parade at Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western Region.

A statement signed by Mr Asamoah and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said President John Mahama will be the guest of honour whilst the National parade which would be held at the Essipong Stadium will be addressed by Mr Asamoah.

The theme for the celebration is “Pension: It Is Your Right and Your Responsibility”.

It said the parade will be attended by Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, Chiefs and workers and that there will be regional parades in all the Regional Capitals to be addressed by the Regional Ministers and Regional Secretaries of TUC.

The statement said this year’s May Day celebration is under the auspices of Organised Labour groups including the TUC and its 18 affiliated National Unions, Ghana Federation of Labour, Ghana National Association of Teachers, National Association of Graduate Teachers, Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana, Ghana
