Military’s Report Is One-Sided – Ghanaian Times Editor

The Editor of the Ghanaians Times Newspaper, David Agbenu has described as ‘unpleasant’ and ‘one-sided’; the report issued by the Military which exonerated some officers who allegedly assaulted a Journalist on Independence Day.

Some Military officers were caught on tape assaulting a Journalist at this year’s Independence Day parade and a report released by the Military after investigations stated that the officers only applied minimum force in an attempt to maintain order at the grounds.

But in an interview on Eyewitness News on Friday, Mr. Agbenu who is also the Editor of the newspaper where assaulted Journalist works said Journalists across the country are “all saddened by report that we got from the Military. It is unpleasant and nobody is happy here.”

According to him, his outfit “will not accept the report; we think that it is a one-sided report; the report does not include the complaints of the reporter who was assaulted neither does it contain the complaint of the Graphic Photographer and for us we think that it doesn’t represent the true situation on the ground.”

Mr. Agbenu however gave the indication that they are in talks with Information and Media Relations Minister and the Military and “if things go well, we might end this matter on a very good note.”
