Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah says he has gained a lot from his week spent exchanging knowledge and ideas with English Premier League side Manchester City.

Appiah spent a week with coaches at Carrington training ground led by City boss, Roberto Mancini and the club’s other key coaches David Platt and Brian Kidd.

The scheme organised by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is part of a cooperation agreement between the GFA and Manchester City.

He exchanged technical ideas in the game in what is his second visit to the former Premiership champions as he observed the team preparing for the weekend’s match.

Appiah is delighted with the chance of meeting some of the best coaches in the world to as he seeks to boost his work with the Black Stars.

“I think it has been very useful,” he said.

“I have learnt a lot, not only tactically but about what the physio does and also the psychologist and the other departments around the team.

“I have had an opportunity to speak to David Platt, Brian Kidd and manager Roberto Mancini as well.

“There are some things the manager has told me about how he sees the game – and he has been very helpful.”

The visit forms part of preparations towards Ghana’s qualifying match in the 2014 World Cup with Sudan in June.
