Nana Kwabena Sekyere, aka Don King, who went on break after releasing his maiden album, ‘Kotogye’ in 2008, is back on the music scene with his new album which will be released later this year.
Don King, who shot his way onto the music scene with his ‘Kotogye’ album, on which he featured artistes like Todia Chicago, Screw Face among others, disclosed that all is set for the release of his second album, ‘Kotofa’.
While on break, Don King was busily working behind closed doors on his second album, which has a hit song, ‘Twi Woto Ho’.
According to him, with changes in his style of play and performance he is ready to register his name permanently on the music scene.
After the release of his first album, Don King, also known as Nana Sika Nsuo, has so far staged various performances which attracted an appreciable number of music lovers. He told BEATWAVES: “I don’t believe in coming out with just an album. What is important is that the songs on the album must be educative.”
The album comprises nine songs of different Ghanaian music genres and two instrumentals.
The interesting thing about his new album is that its promotion has not yet started but a few radio presenters who have listened to some of the tracks on it have predicted its boom on radio.
With several songs unreleased under his belt, Don King was poised to be one of the best artistes in the coming years.
BEATWAVES had the opportunity to listen to Kotofa’s mesmerizing beats and well-thought and chosen lyrics and concluded that indeed it would send people to the dance floor.
He owns a tourist attraction centre known as Boankra Bouho Power House. Don King hinted that he was working tirelessly to organize events to create awareness about the centre.
He disclosed that he had plans to organize a three-day exhibition which would see the participation of various groups and individuals in the tourism and hospitality sector, as well as arts and crafts and fashion.
“We have a collective responsibility to make tourism a viable tool for wealth creation, poverty reduction and environmental conservation in a sustainable manner,” Don King said.
Don King, who is also a priest in Boankra in the Ashanti Region disclosed that on April 13, he gave five strong lotto numbers: 61, 80, 82, 11 and 89 to some of his fans and three out of the five numbers: 80, 82 and 89 dropped. He however thanked God for supporting him in his music business and other activities.
