The British Nigerian superstar, Tayo Elesin who was one of the international actors that featured prominently at this year’s Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) actually begged to be part of the award ceremony, officials have revealed.
They made this revelation during the week, while reacting to some of the issues that cropped up after the award ceremony.
Elesin, is said to have tweeted her frustration in the country after AMAA allegedly failed to issue her with a return ticket back to London as one of their guests .
But speaking on the matter, AMAA officials refuted the claim of the “Law and Order” star, insisting that she was issued with a return ticket. “None of our international guests entered Nigeria without a return ticket.
Elesin stayed back because she’s doing publicity for herself. She begged us to be part of this year’s AMAA, and we were magnanimous enough to bring her home because we want to encourage our artistes in the diaspora to be part of the event,” the award body said.
Tayo Elesin who has starred in widely acclaimed television soaps such as Law and Order UK, Holby City, Doctors, and many others attended AMAA, which held last weekend in Yenagoa, alongside another renowned British actress, Angela Dixon.
