Ghanaian boxer Emmanuel ‘Game Boy’ Tagoe has warned that his fists could kill his Filipino opponent Ronald Pontillas during tonight’s boxing bout at the Accra Sports Stadium, if care is not taken.
‘His managers should know that my blows can kill their boy so they should talk to him not to provoke me.
I intend to give him a gentle beating like how I would cane my child but if he dares me, I would beat him like I would a man and that is where the killing may happen,’ Game Boy told NEWS-ONE.
Pontillas and Emmanuel Tagoe will be locking horns in their WBA/WBO Super Featherweight Championship at the Accra Sports Stadium tonight in a match organized by the Baby Jet Promotions, belonging to ace footballer Asamoah Gyan.
Tagoe has urged his fans to throng the Accra Stadium not only in their numbers but on time to witness him make a public display and nonsense of the visitor’s pre-bout bragging.
Game Boy (20-1,8 Kos) has been engaged in steamy workouts at the Seconds Out Gym in Accra and has hinted that he has hit the mark to match his words with action as he hankers to explode.
In one of his several interviews, he said, ‘I want my fans to come on time to witness real fireworks. I may end the fight earlier than expected and I don’t want them to miss what I intend rolling out.
‘How the fans will respond to the fight may inform my decision to end it earlier. If I realize they are enjoying themselves, why not? I will make them enjoy by punishing him slowly.
‘As I always say, I don’t go into fights with a rehearsed game plan. If he proves to be stubborn, I will respond accordingly. I hear he says he will stop me, but I will take him through some boxing lessons.
‘He shouldn’t forget my enthronement as a boxing king is divine. That was the reason I came in a palanquin the last time. My entry into the ring on Friday will be spectacular, and that is also one of the reasons I am calling on my fans to come on time.’
Pontillas, nicknamed ‘The Unpredictable’, on the other hand has promised to apply the breaks on the Ghanaian, and that, coupled with other fights on the bill has raised the stakes in tonight’s showpiece.
‘I am in Ghana just for one thing. I am here to beat this man to hell. I will knock him first round, if I get the chance but if I can’t knock him first round, I will beat him anyway,’ Pontillas stated.
The anticipated high profile bout is sponsored by Mama Vit’s Investments.
