Man bags 7 months imprisonment for stealing 2 generators

Abuja –  An Abuja Grade Two Area Court on Friday sentenced one Gaddafi Awal, 20, of Jabi, Abuja, to seven months imprisonment for stealing two generators.

Awal was tried on a three-count charge of joint act, criminal trespass and theft.

The court, presided by Malam Ahmed Ado, however, gave the convict an option to pay N6,000 fine.

Police prosecutor Simon Ibrahim had told the court that on April 24, one Folake Folasade of Sheikh Jarma Street, Jabi, Abuja, reported the matter at the Utako Police Station.

Ibrahim said the convict and two others now at large, trespassed into her compound and stole the generators valued at N130,000.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened the provisions of sections 79, 287 and 342 of the Penal Code.

He said that during investigation, the generators were recovered from Awal, who pleaded guilty to the offences, and begged for leniency. (NAN)
