Current Glo Premier League leaders Medeama’s 1-2 defeat at the hands of Amidaus has inched defending champions Kotoko closer to the summit of the league.

Kotoko thumped visiting Tema Youth 1-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium yesterday to hand their title defence a major boost.

The slender win has cut the three point lead by Medeama to just a point.

Kotoko forward Nafiu Iddrisu scored nine minutes to the end of the game in a match which saw the visitors employing all manner of tactics to at least run home with a point.

At the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman, David Duncan’s Hearts of Oak subjected Liberty Professionals to a 3-1 defeat to set a date for a crunchy tie with arch-rivals Kotoko at the Accra Stadium on Sunday.

Hearts’ red hot striker Mahatma Otoo grabbed a brace after Sadat Karim had fetched the opener to take his tally to 11, overtaking Amidaus Professionals’ Yahaya Mohammed, who until the brace was in charge.
