Asamoah Gyan says he was misquoted about him returning to Europe.

Asamoah Gyan maintains he is committed to his contract with Al Ain and has no intention of quitting the runaway UAE champions this summer.

The Ghana captain has dismissed reports he would seek a move to Europe during the next transfer window.

Gyan insists he was misquoted following an interview he gave after the Al Ain winning of a second successive league title last week.

“I was misquoted,” the 27-year-old told MTNFootball.com.

“In an interview I granted, a journalist asked about me missing the fans in Europe and my answer was like sometimes I do miss the fans.

“In Europe people come in their numbers to cheer their players but that is not what I see in the UAE and I think I was misquoted.”

Gyan has had a successful second season as his hat-trick last week won the league title for the Dubai-based side with four matches to spare.

He has scored 50 goals in 37 appearances for the club after playing

Gyan, who signed a four-year contract with Al Ain after impressing on loan from English Premier League side Sunderland, wants to respect his four year contract with the club.

“But things happen. For now I’m concentrating on my club and I am happy here 100 percent. I have been doing my job,” he added.

“Talking about moving to Europe, I don’t know for now and I have not thought about it.”

Gyan’s first foreign club was Italian side Udinese and also had a spent a loan spell at Modena before signing for French side Rennes.
