Arsenal legend Tony Adams has arrived in Ghana to launch the third season of the Airtel Rising Stars competition.
The former Arsenal captain arrived on Thursday night ahead of the official launch of the U17 tournament for both boys and girls on Friday.
Several distinguished personalities are expected to attend the launch which will take place at the Media Center of the Accra Sports Stadium.
The competition in its third year, has been responsible for unearthing several juvenile talents for the various aged national teams.
Notable of such talents is Priscilla Okyere who captained the Ghana U17 female team to an historic bronze medal at the World Cup in Azerbaijan last year.
Airtel plans to do five zonal activations for this season’s tournament – a departure of their normal two zonal activations as part of their plans to extend access of the competition to several more.
Other innovations to this season’s tournament will be revealed at the launch on Friday.
Former Ghana defender Sammy Kuffour alongside ex international Odartey Lamptey are also expected to be at the launch in their capacities as ambassadors for the Airtel Rising Stars tournament.
