Ghana defender John Mensah got precious game time under his belt in Stade Rennes’ shocking 2-1 loss to Troyes on Wednesday night.

The former Black Stars captain came on in the second half to replace Nigerian Onyekachi Apam in the 60th minute to partner compatriot John Boye in central defence.

It is the first time in a long while since Mensah got onto the pitch for Rennes in Ligue 1.

His return however serves refreshing news as it marks the former Sunderland loanee’s triumph over recent niggling injuries.

The shocking home defeat however sees Rennes drop to 10th in Ligue 1 – increasingly hurting their chances of securing European football next season with just five games remaining.
