Hearts win Accra derby to move to mid-table

Hearts of Oak enjoyed all the spoils of the Accra derby, thrashing Liberty Professionals 3-1 before their supporters in Dansoman on Wednesday.

Top striker, Mahatma Otoo struck a brace to become the Glo Premier League’s top scorer with 12 goals after 23 games.

Sadat Karim drew first blood at the Carl Reindorf Park for the Phobians before Otoo doubled their lead in the 24th minute.

Hearts held onto their 2-0 lead before both teams went into the break.

Liberty responded after the interval when Kennedy Ashia reduced the deficit after scoring in the 66th minute to offer his side some hope.

But two minuter later, Otoo was on hand to put the game beyond Liberty when he fired in his second on the day.

And the result will prove a big boost for the Phobians ahead of their next league game against rivals, Asante Kotoko in Accra, a week after Sunday.
