Dr Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Executive Chairman of Zoomlion and Jospong Group, has announced that a new company would be established soon to recycle plastics to help solve sanitation and unemployment problems in the country.
He said about 125,000 people nationwide would be employed by the company when it starts operation in June.
Dr Agyepong was addressing the Sunyani Area Men’s Fellowship of the Church of Pentecost in Sunyani.
He noted that the country was endowed with natural resources, which could be explored to create wealth and jobs for the youth to deter them from seeking greener pastures in developed countries.
Dr Agyepong said most waste materials in the country could be recycled for use by manufacturers to make affordable items instead importing raw materials at a higher cost.
He explained that the collection of plastics would not be a problem because equipment would be provided in the communities to enable the people who supplied plastics to the company to be paid instantly.
Dr Agyepong said the establishment of a business requires passion and commitment after exploring and considering the nature of the business.
Paul Evans Aidoo, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, in a speech read on his behalf, said government appreciates the role churches play in socio-economic development.
He commended the Church of Pentecost for demonstrating that it was a true and reliable partner to improve the living standards of the people.
Mr Aidoo urged workers to exercise restraint, self discipline and show compassion during dialogue and negotiations to resolve disputes.
