amaa 156 horz vert Top 3 Award winning smiles at 2013 AMAAIt was a night of joy for many of Africa’s actors and film makers when winners were announced for the 2013 Africa Movie Academy Awards(AMAA). From memorable acceptance speeches to picture-perfect smiles, the night was one of joy for those who could grab a piece of the curvy AMAA statuette.  Here are my top 3 award winning smiles from the ceremony in Bayelsa, Nigeria.

Coming in at number 3 is  was South African actress, Florence Masebe who picked up the Best Actress ina Leading Role prize for her role in ‘Elelwani’. She was full of elation and particularly excited that her movie about an unsung hero from a ethnic minority was able to shine at the awards. In number 2 was Ghanaian film maker, Akosua Adoma Owusu who picked up the prize for Best Short Film with her feature, ‘Kwaku Ananse’. She picked up the first award of the night and was a nervy but her joy and excitement was unmistakable.

It is two for the price of one at the number 1 spot. Veteran Nollywood actors, Kanayo O. Kanayo and Kenneth Okonkwo picked were among winners of the Special Recognition of Pillars of Nollywood @ 20 award and this picture of them on stage was just priceless. I had to give it the number 1 position.
