Yaw Obimpeh, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has asked God to deal drastically with Kennedy Kankam, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Organizer in the region for allegedly peddling blatant lies to defame his character in public.

Kankam, in an interview with Nhyira FM on Tuesday, accused the NDC, led by Yaw Obimpeh and other top officials of the ruling party, of planning to cause confusion in Kumasi in the ongoing hearing of the election petition.

The furious NDC chief, who claimed he was innocent, asked God to deal drastically with the NPP Organizer.

Yaw Obimpeh, in the presence of the media, invoked the spirits of several river deities in Asanteman to strike dead his political opponents sometime ago.

The NPP Organizer claimed the NDC was planning to cause fear and panic among residents of Kumasi in order to prevent people from watching proceedings at the Supreme Court.

As part of the NDC’s grand scheme, Kankam alleged that the services of some hoodlums in Tamale and Accra had been hired to visit mayhem on innocent Kumasi residents.

He said he was also aware of monies that the NDC was planning to pay to the hired thugs after accomplishing their nefarious activity in the Garden City on Wednesday.

Reacting to the allegation on the same network, the NDC Chairman flatly denied claims that they were hatching fiendish plans with his executives including the Ashanti Regional Minister Eric Opoku to destabilize Kumasi.

But Kankam alleged that hundreds of thugs had been paid to create confusion in Kumasi on Wednesday.

He said the NPP was also aware of the venue, time and agenda of meetings held by the NDC in connection with violent attacks, adding that the thugs would loot shops, fire gunshots and terrorize the people.

Kankam said he had informed some top policemen in the city about the NDC’s agenda, adding that the NPP was closely monitoring activities of the NDC in the area.

Mr. Obimpeh said, “I swear to God, I am innocent of the allegation being made by Kankam.”

“If I am planning any evil against Kumasi with the regional minister and other top NDC members, then God should expose me.”

“If Kankam’s allegations are false, then God should deal with him severely.”

Obimpeh vowed to report the matter to the police so that he (Obimpeh) and Kankam would be invited for interrogation to uncover any plans.

The NDC Chairman also accused Kankam and Kennedy Agyapong, a leading NPP member and MP for Assin Central of attempting to terrorize residents in Kumasi, stressing that the NPP’s bad deeds would be exposed soon.
