A former National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo has cautioned members of the National Democratic Congress who are fond of labeling Dr. Bawumia as an academician and not cut out for politics, to rather concentrate on grooming most of their top officials who have no idea about what politics is about.
He emphatically stated unlike some senior members serving under this current government, Dr. Bawumia as a politician, is fortunate to be blessed with traits that made it easier for him to propose “sensible” plans to develop our nation.
Anthony Abayifaa Karbo’s comments were borne out of a remark by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini that Dr. Bawumia should take up the job offer from African Development Bank in order to restore “his little credibility” as a politician.
To the Member of Parliament for Tamale, Dr. Bawumia since engaging in active politics from 2008, “has been a disaster” who has been “trying to be someone he is not”. He added that the two time Vice Presidential candidate of the NPP has been largely successful as a renowned banker and a statistician than as a politician.
But on Okay FM, the former NPP National Executive member called on NDC officials to remove the log in their eyes before commenting on the speck in the eyes of other people.
He argued that the late former President Mills, who managed to be president of the country on the ticket of the NDC, left no vestige remains of a politician in him. He noted that the then President Mills had difficulties adjusting to politics and his dullness was exhibited during his tenure.
To buttress his assertion that there were top notch officials in the NDC who needed political grooming, Anthony Karbo added that Vice President Amissah Arthur couldn’t be excluded from the list.
“Our vice president was picked from the banking sector and it is clear he isn’t different from Dr. Bawumia looking at where they came from. But no one knows him and the kind of job he is doing for the nation currently. When was the last time we heard the veep making headlines in the news?” he asked.
