Hearts have confirmed they have issued an ultimatum to striker Mahatma OtooMahatma Otoo

Accra Hearts of Oak have confirmed they have asked striker Mahatma Otoo to decide whether he will sign a new deal with the club or leave when his current contract expires.

Reports emerged last week of a 14 day deadline issued to the Glo Premier League joint topscorer to tell Hearts officials whether he is interested in signing a new contract or head abroad.

South African side Mamelodi Sundowns have tabled an offer for the 21-year-old while Sunderland, Olympique Lyon and several other clubs are on the heels of the former SP Mirren youngster.

However Hearts explain the motive behind their ultimatum to Otoo is to help them plan ahead for next season.

“We have to plan for the coming season so we want to be sure whether we will have him for next season or not,” club Communications director Muhaed Saed told Accra-based Adom FM.

Muhaed also reveals Otoo is interested in signing a new deal at the club.

“Mahatma himself is interested in staying at Hearts but we are facing a difficulty his manager,” he added.
