Five Students Dismissed Over Fake Certificates

Five students of the Ho Polytechnic, have been dismissed from using fake West African Senior School Certificate results to gain admission into the school.

They are Patrick Amissah, Dennis Tetteh, Miss Dziedzorm Bausah, of the Marketing Department Amponsah Amoako of the Department of Fashion, Design and modeling and Millicent Adraku of the Department of Hospitality and Catering.

They are all second year students pursuing Higher National Diploma programmes.

The Registrar of the Polytechnic, Mr. David Dzontoh, who confirmed this to The Ghanaian Times yesterday urged all students of the polytechnic to take note of the development.

According to him, the polytechnic is in the process of verifying the results and other documents of all continuing students.

He warned that the authorities would not protect any student with a fake certificate, noting that such students in future would be handed over to the police.

A first year female student who pleaded anonymity, said the process of verifying the validity of results and other documents was welcome because such ‘fake students’ blocked the chances of others whose results merit admission into the polytechnic.

The Dean of Students, Mr. Ben Onyemiga, cautioned students to be alert and ready to pack their baggage if they gained admission through crooked means, because the system would eventually smoke them out.

He advised all prospective students to ensure that the results and documents they present for admission are genuine, to avoid embarrassment.
