Indonesian footballer Pieter Rumaropen is poised to have the book thrown at him after punching a referee during a Super League match.
Persiwa Warmena were drawing 1-1 with Pelita Bandung Raya with eight minutes remaining, when the referee pointed to the penalty spot after a clumsy challenge was committed inside the box.
An incandescent Rumaropen ran up behind the referee before swinging a left hook that landed flush on his nose.
The game was held up for 15 minutes, as medics tried to stem the flow of blood.
The league’s communications manager explained that the unsavoury incident is being dealt with.
Azwan Karim said: “The case has been forwarded to the disciplinary committee.
“There will be an extra penalty as well as the red card.”
