Interior minister, Kwesi Ahwoi, has asked his colleague at the Finance ministry to expedite release of funds to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).
The call follows NADMO boss Kofi Portuphy’s complaint that they have run out of stock and need money to offset the 16 million Ghana cedis debt they owe their suppliers.
Mr Ahwoi urged the ministry to release NADMO’s budget on time to enable the organisation plan ahead of the rainy season.
Mr. Kwesi Ahwoi also appealed to donors and other societies to contribute towards the work of NADMO.
He indicated that as the rains approach, NADMO will be in dire need of assistance and support from funds from the ministry, donor institutions and philanthropists.
