Sir John Blasts Radio Gold

Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, has released his fury on an Accra-based Radio Gold, accusing the station of inciting Ghanaians and churning out offensive statements via their medium.

He chastised the radio station for not giving an equal platform to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) when issues are raised for discussions.

“Why is it that NPP people don’t come to your shows? Because of your bias and yet, you continue to exist; Radio Gold”.

He was commenting on the remarks by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and some lawyers directing that he together with the General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress must stop making commentaries on the on-going election petition at the Supreme Court.

He wondered why Radio Gold still exists after allowing people to make derogatory remarks on air.

He expressed that “the things that Radio Gold churns out in this country are offensive to some people out there in my constituent, and yet you continue to churn those thoughts out. Nobody has gagged Radio Gold.”

He also opined that some statements that the station has been making “are irresponsible. It bothers on incitement. It bothers on bringing this country to its knees. After the elections, we all heard Radio Gold talk the kind of nonsense that they spent and yet, Radio Gold continues to be in this country and continues to speak.”
