Police recover explosive materials in Bauchi

BAUCHI — The  Bauchi State Police Command has recovered materials used in preparing locally improvised explosives along Gombe road, a densely populated area of the metropolis.

The state Police Commissioner, Mr Mohammed Ladan, who confirmed the incident, yesterday,  said the materials were dumped near a township divisional police station in Bauchi and it was concealed in a carton.

According to him, the improvised explosive devices were neatly concealed in  Turkey groundnut oil container and Maltina drink cans but they could not detonate because the processes  were not complete. He added that the police had removed them and the area is now safe.

Residents near popular Alkali Aminu’s house said they were confused when they saw a carton containing a bomb carefully kept inside tins and another leather bag that contained fertilizer.

They urged security agents in the state to intensify surveillance.
