Accra Hearts of Oak yesterday managed a lone-goal victory over visiting Amidaus FC at the Accra Stadium.

Thomas Abbey pounced on a rebound and fired home with his left foot to deny the Tema men who displayed great tactical discipline despite their numerical disadvantage, after Emmanuel Ofori and Benjamin Akuffo were red-carded in the second half.

Hearts of Oak, until they hit the back of the net, had gone prodigal, wasting countless scoring opportunities especially in the first half. James Bissiw and Mahatma Otoo came close to fetching the opener, but the well-drilled Amidaus defense denied the home side.

On loan Asante Kotoko midfielder Yahaya Mohammed rallied his men in most parts of the second half, but was unlucky in his bid to put his name on the scoring sheet when his dead ball trademark failed to hit the target.

The sparse crowd at a point protested in the stands hurling abusive words at the players when Mahatma Otoo and his colleagues failed to convert the numerous chances they created.

The win sends Hearts to the 11th position, an improvement on their near relegation zone 13th position.

At the Bekwai Gyamfi Park, Kotoko split points with New Edubiase after recording a 1-1 scoreline
