8 gang rape sex worker

Lagos — Four young men were, weekend, docked before Mrs. Demi Ajayi of Ikeja Magistrate Court for allegedly raping Jennifer Uche.

The suspects, Solomon Obamiro 28, Adebayo Fagbemi, 25, Soliu Obalowu, 27 and Oluwatosin Akomolafe 22, and others now at large, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and sexual assault.

The police prosecutor superintendent, Barth Nwaokoye, informed the court that the defendants committed the crime in the early hours of April 13, 2013, at about 3a.m.

He said the alleged crime was perpetrated in a club house at 28, Sule Abukar street, Opebi in Ikeja area of Lagos.

Uche, who is 27, was said to have had an agreement with Solomon Obamiro to pay her the sum of N5,000 for one night, but few minutes after Obamiro had begun the affair, the victim said a gang of seven other boys suspected to be close associate of Obamiro gang raped her.

Her legs and hands were said to have been held each time one of tthe suspects was taking his turn, repeatedly until she lost consciousness.

When she regained  consciousness, she saw N800 they dropped for her after the perpetrators of the act had fled.

The prosecutor said the offence was  punishable under section 409, 262(1) of the criminal laws No 11 Vol 44 law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge preferred against them by the police.

However, Magistrate Ajayi granted the defendants bail in the sum of N300,000 and adjourned the case to June, 17, 2013, for trial.
