Ghana striker Jeff Schlupp’s stint at Manchester United has massively improved the player which has seen an upturn in his form, says Leicester City chief Nigel Pearson.

The 20-year-old’s recent form has been hugely instrumental in Leicester City promotion push to the English Premier League.

Utility man Schlupp surprisingly went to Old Trafford for a month-long trial midway through the campaign.

But Pearson is now reaping the rewards with the Ghana international a key man in the Foxes’ battle to go up to the Premier League.

Schlupp has scored three times since his return – after being thrown in as a centre-forward.

Those goals include the stunning volley that got his side back into the top six against Bolton on Tuesday.

Pearson said: “His time at Manchester United very much helped his development.

“For a young player to spend some time at United is a real boost for them in terms of confidence.

“But he’s back here now and playing games. He is contributing very positively to the side.

“It was an agreement between the two clubs.

“Ultimately it’s benefited the player and benefited ourselves.”
