Ghanaian quintet with TP Mazembe suffered a 3-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates in the CAF Champions League game on Saturday night.
A brace from Zambia striker Collins Mbesuma and an early goal from Nigerian Onyekachi Okwonkwo sunk the DR Congo giants who scored a consolation through Patou Kabangu.
Richard Kissi-Boateng and Daniel Nii Adjei started the game for TP Mazembe while winger Solomon Asante came in as a second half-substitute in the game played at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg.
Gladson Awako and Yaw Frimpong did not make the team for Saturday’s game against the Buccaneers.
Pirates now hold a healthy cushion ahead of the second leg game of the ultimate qualifier for the group stage of the competition.
