The two General Secretaries of New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have hit back at critics who say they should be blacklisted by the media, especially during hearing of the election petition case.

Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie and Johnson Asiedu Nketia have been cited for deliberately misrepresenting proceedings of the court for political gains.

This according to political analysts could be dangerous to the security of the nation especially after the ruling.

But Mr Nketia in an interview with Citi News said nobody can stop him from speaking about the case.

“I am a party, I represent NDC so why do you say the matter I am a party to, I should not talk about. It tells you the frustration of the NPP that their lies are being exposed.”

He added that “my first comment was that the NPP’s case will be crumpling even though we go to court. They didn’t like it but that is what is happening. Yesterday by their own admission, they said they are abandoning…and I am very sure that as we continue exposing their lies, their case will crumple further.”

Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie on his part insisted he does not twist proceedings for any political gains, especially as a lawyer himself.

“There is a legal matter that is being sought in court and there is a political wing to it because the people who went to court are members of a political party so you cannot discount the political dimension from the legal dimension; you cannot.”

According to him, he is a lawyer “of about 32 years and if they want Lawyers to speak to the matters that are happening in court, I think that a first year law student will understand the processes that is going on in the court let alone a 32-year old legal Lawyer of that good standing.”
