The NPP’s Petition Has Disgraced Ghana Before The Int’l Community

Founder of the Ghana Freedom Party has condemned the move by Nana Akuffo Addo, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to have 4,670,504 votes nullified by the Supreme Court; describing the act as a shameful one that has disgraced Ghana before the International community.

Madam Akua Donkor explained that the Supreme Court case has opened the nation up for other countries who do not come close to the feat Ghana has achieved, to criticize us.

The NPP, led by their 2012 presidential candidate, vice and the party chair, has petitioned the Supreme Court urging the court to annul 4,670,504 votes and subsequently declare Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as the one who won the December 2012 elections.

According to the three (3) petitioners, there are six main categories of irregularities, malpractices, violations and omissions in various combinations which affected the results of the election in the 11,842 polling stations, which have irredeemably damaged a total of 4,637,305 votes in the process, and must, therefore, be annulled.

They are, therefore, challenging the EC’s declaration of President Mahama as winner of the presidential polls with 50.70 per cent.

But in an interview with Okay FM, Madam Akua Donkor maintained that inasmuch as the case has tarnished the image of Ghana, she believes the 2012 general elections was free and fair.

She noted that she knew how elections have been conducted in Ghana over the past years and can vouch that the recent one was clean as a whistle. She prayed the petitioners realize the damages they have caused the nation and redraw their case as quickly as possible.
