Ace Ghanaian satirist and TV personality, Kweku Sintim-Misa (KSM) will host President John Dramani Mahama tonight on “Thank God It’s Friday” (TGIF)- a riveting TV chat show.
The announcement which was first made via his tweeter handle said ” First 100 Days” -KSM shoots the breeze with the President H.E John Mahama on TGIF this Friday. Exclusive encounter only on TGIF”.
In an exclusive with myjoyonline, KSM confirmed the President’s participation and revealed that this would be the first time a sitting President will be on his show.
KSM said he was motivated by the fact that the President’s first 100 days has been “turbulent” and said the TGIF platform would allow the President to talk freely about his performance.
“The TGIF is a relaxed platform, so people who come on the show are able to express themselves so I would think that he would feel comfortable expressing himself”.
The Show will have Mahama talk in-depth about his 100 days in office amidst serious challenges in the provision of social services such as energy crisis humoursly known as “dum sor” and water rationing crisis in Accra and parts of the country.
He will also be finding out how the President feels about the controversial election petition case at the Supreme Court.
Ultimately he said he would ask the President to rate himself on “how much does he thinks he has done granted that a 100 days is not anything to judge serious accomplishments on”.
KSM believes the strength of the Show was that it gave everybody a voice no matter their background.
Hosting Presidents on comedy shows is a U.S tradition that has found its way into Ghana for the first time, courtesy KSM. He has also hinted he was working on taking TGIF to another level, by getting international personalities and a President on the Show.
TGIF is an award winning multi-segmented TV chat show on Metro TV that hosts ordinary people with extraordinary lives from the arts, entertainment, politics and business.
The Show will air at 9:00pm.
