Takoradi April 19, GNA- Regional Offices of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) would be developed into model offices, Mr Bernard Otabil, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Agency, said in Takoradi on Thursday.
At a meeting with the staff of the Agency in Takoradi, he said regional offices are important component in the set up of the Agency since the bulk of stories come from these areas.
The CEO said the new GNA is going to be a model institution that would be built through collective responsibility and team work.
Mr Otabil, who was on a familiarisation visit said the envisaged development of the regional offices is to ensure that the Agency obtain right and good stories.
He said since the Agency is being re-branded and re-positioned into a model news agency, it must carry out quality stories that befit its status.
He said there must be ‘zero tolerance for errors’ in news items published therefore all journalists in the Agency must work conscientiously to improve upon the quality of their reports.
Mr Otabil said re-positioning and re-branding of the Agency would enable the public to know its relevance, saying a new slogan crafted to highlight this direction is ‘No GNA, No news’.
The CEO said the Agency must operate with 100 per cent commitment and should be accountable as a public institution.
He said the new services that the Agency is going to introduce include GNA conference and events, and mobile news delivery on mobile phones and IPads.
Mr Otabil announced that the Agency would organise its first ever awards ceremony in November this year.
He presented two laptops to the Western Region Office of the Agency to facilitate its work.
