Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong visited Michael Essien in his London home on Thursday.
The new Ghana international caught up with the on-loan Real Madrid midfielder who is back in London to receive further treatment on his latest injury.
Essien is being assessed by Chelsea doctors to accelerate his recovery ahead of Real Madrid’s trip to Germany for their Champions League first leg semi final game against Borussia Dortmund.
The 30-year-old has been working in the Real Madrid gym at the start of the week but jetted into London to be assessed by the Chelsea doctors.
Essien is racing against time to recover from a muscle problem for Wednesday’s Champions League clash.
He is not expected to play any part in Real Madrid’s La Liga game on Saturday at home to Real Betis with his return date from London yet to be confirmed.
