Bawumia Will Face ‘Fire’ On Monday – Nana Ato Dadzie

Member of the legal team for the National Democratic Party, Nana Ato Dadzie has warned the second petitioner in the election petition case before the Supreme Court, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to prepare for “fire” on Monday when cross examination continues.

According to him, the lawyers for the respondents will reveal the loop holes in his (Bawumia) testimony and show that the petitioners have no case.

Hearing of the election petition seeking to overturn the declaration of the Electoral Commission which adjudged President Mahama as the winner of the 2012 elections entered its third day on Thursday with cross examination commencing by Lawyer for the President Tony Lithur. Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was in the witness box.

Lawyer for President Mahama, Tony Lithur cross examined him for over two hours about the evidence the petitioners had presented to the courts before the hearing.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was seeking in his submission to have the court annul about 4.3 million votes which he said would reduce President Mahama’s percentage in the election to about 40% while boosting Nana Akufo Addo’s percentage to 50.47%.

Tony Lithur however in cross examinations sought to point out to Dr Bawumia that per the evidence presented to the court, several of the data from the pink sheets had been duplicated.

According to Nana Ato Dadzie, “He (Bawumia) has a burden. He made all those allegations. He is going to face the peril of the fire.

Mr Tony Lithur obviously was at his best, but one will still say he is probably still warming up in the game. Even that was enough to initially rattle the witness who was now going to seek further material from the CD ROM.”
